Privacy
Last updated: September 29, 2026
TapToSay is built so that personal data stays on the device. There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking.
The short version: nothing about the person using TapToSay is collected, transmitted, or sold. Speech happens on the device, and the vocabulary and photos the app uses live on the device.
What the app stores, and where
- Speech: generated on the device by the operating system’s built-in speech engine. No audio is recorded or sent anywhere.
- Vocabulary and photos: stored on the device. Any custom tiles or pictures you add stay there.
- Settings and PINs: stored on the device.
What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information about the person using the app.
- We do not collect analytics, usage data, or identifiers.
- We do not show advertising, and we do not sell or share data with third parties.
- We do not require or create an account.
Optional school / organization sync
TapToSay can optionally be set up by a school or organization to receive a shared vocabulary configuration. If that feature is used, the device sends only the setup identifiers it was given (such as a school or student ID and the server address) to fetch that configuration, and it caches the vocabulary on the device so the app keeps working offline. It does not send speech, photos, or usage data.
Children’s privacy
TapToSay is designed for use by children and their caregivers. Consistently with that, the app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Third-party services
The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
